Student Groups and Volunteers

Student Groups

A number of enviromentally focused student groups on Virginia Tech's campus have helped enormously with campus recycling. For the past four years the Environmental Coalition's assistance with weekly paper collection has been invaluable.

We provide the listing below in hopes of facilitating communication between these important organizations. If there are groups we have neglected to post, please let us know.

  • Environmental Science Student Organization (ESSO)
ESSO's (Environmental Science Student Organization) purpose is to serve the environmental science majors of Virginia Tech by offering career information and specialized environmental activities.
  • Organization for Applied Environmental Awareness (AEA)
The Organization for Applied Environmental Awareness is a student volunteer program that runs through the YMCA at Virginia Tech. AEA focuses on promoting environmental awareness and responsible, non-activist action among the members of the Virginia Tech and Blacksburg communities. AEA is currently collecting paper from offices within Burruss Hall, the primary administrative building at Virginia Tech, with support from VTR.
  • Student Environmental Action Coalition (SEAC)
SEAC (Student Environmental Action Coalition), pronounced "seek," as in "seeking", is a grassroots coalition of student and youth environmental groups, working together to protect our planet and our future.
  • Taking Responsibility for the Earth and Environment (TREE)
TREE (Taking Responsibility for the Earth and Environment) is a local grassroots organization that plans, organizes, and executes programs in an attempt to reduce Virginia Tech's ecological footprint so that we may become an environmental steward.

Volunteers

Virginia Tech Recycling would like to especially thank all of the folks listed below (as well as those unlisted who help anonymously) who have volunteered their time to keep Virginia Tech recycling.

If you would like to become a VTR volunteer, just fill out our online registration form.

If you are volunteering and are not listed below, are incorrectly listed, or if you are listed and would like to remain anonymous, just let us know.
