Express Shuttle Service to Roanoke Regional Airport
The Smart Way bus will be providing express shuttle service from Virginia Tech’s campus non-stop to the Roanoke Regional Airport, in addition to their regularly scheduled routes on Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21.
Students MUST register by November 6 in order to be able to ride on the express shuttles (registration is not necessary when riding a regularly scheduled Smart Way bus route).
*Please note: If there are not enough riders registered for the departure time that you have selected, that run may be cancelled. In the event that this happens you will be contacted to make other arrangements.
What you need to do before November 6th:
- Register for one of the express shuttles from Virginia Tech’s campus to the Roanoke Regional Airport by 5:00 p.m. on November 6.
- The departure times for both Friday, Nov. 20 and Saturday, Nov. 21 are 6:15 a.m., 8:15 a.m., 10:15 a.m., 1:15 p.m., and 3:15 p.m. from the Smart Way bus stop at Squires Student Center. The regularly scheduled Smart Way bus routes will also be running but do not need registration.
- You may only register for one trip to the airport. You may not register for multiple trips to the airport.

*Please note: If your return flight to Roanoke is on a Sunday (Residence Halls open on Sunday, Nov. 29) you need to
request an airport transfer ticket for service provided by Roanoke Airport Transportation Services shuttle bus when you board the Smart Way Express bus to depart from Squires Student Center. If you do not request the airport transfer at that time, the cost for transportation from the Roanoke Airport to Blacksburg will be $30 by Roanoke Airport Transportation Services. If you use a monthly pass you will still need to request an airport transfer ticket at the time of boarding.
What you need to do when you arrive at Roanoke Regional Airport to return to campus:
- Take your Smart Way airport transfer ticket to the Roanoke Airport Limo Service desk which will allow you to use their service for only $3 back to Blacksburg. If you did not request and obtain an airport transfer ticket when you departed Blacksburg, it will be $30.
- There are no set times the limo service will be departing the airport for Blacksburg. They will be leaving on an as-needed basis only for this date of Sunday, November 29, 2009.
