Perry Street Parking Garage

Virginia Tech's first parking garage

Plans for a 1,200 vehicle parking space structure began in late 2007. The parking structure is aesthetically interesting, functionally efficient, and extremely safe. It is an open design allowing maximum light and air flow. Exterior materials include locally quarried "Hokie stone," architectural precast concrete, glass at stairs and elevators, and appropriate landscaping.

Construction Updates

  • The Perry Street Parking Garage is now complete and open for full use.
  • For the next few months there may be additional landscaping and/or minor exterior work. This work will not affect the ability to park in the garage.
  • The garage now includes plans for a small plaza area with benches and landscaping to provide a gathering/meeting place for those using the parking deck. The landscaping includes grassy areas on both the east and west sides of the garage creating more pervious area then pre-construction.

Design-Build Delivery

The project's delivery method is design-build (D-B) -- the first ever for Virginia Tech. This delivery method enables the architecture and engineering firm and the contractor to develop a design together based on criteria provided by the university. By faciliting design and construction, D-B allows for earlier delivery of the project.
