Light Fact

The name "electricity" was invented by Dr. William Gilbert. A physician to Queen Elizabeth in 1601, Dr. Gilbert gave the name "electric" to the static electricity produced by rubbing a piece of amber with a cloth. He derived the name from "electron", the Greek word for "amber".
