Grounds

The Division of Campus Planning, Infrastructure, and Facilities provides a full range of landscape maintenance and installation services including mowing, tree maintenance, turf maintenance, soil conservation, and snow removal. Teams work to ensure the campus grounds are properly serviced and provide a pleasant environment in which to live, learn, and work. Our crews maintain both the functional and aesthetic standards for 526 intensively managed acres on campus, 20 miles of roadway, 20 miles of sidewalks, 70 parking lots, and a 4-acre duck pond. This responsibility involves multi-layered planning and coordination, as well as effective, quick response to a steady stream of daily demands, special events such as student move-in, and emergencies such as snow storms and flooding.

In addition to supporting the exterior spaces on campus, staff provide services to properties that the university owns.

Specific questions around grounds care services should be referred to 540-231-4300 or vtrepair@vt.edu.
