LEED Certification and Green Building Initiatives

Henderson Hall

The Virginia Tech Climate Action Commitment states that all new buildings and major renovations on campus should seek a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver rating or higher.

Developed by the non-profit U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the LEED system includes a set of rating systems for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of green buildings, homes, and neighborhoods that aims to help building owners and operators be environmentally responsible and use resources efficiently.

To date, Virginia Tech has 18 LEED certified buildings.
