Derring Hall Building Envelope

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Derring Hall, built in 1969, is the university's largest undergraduate science laboratory instruction building, spanning 208,000 square feet. Derring Hall is located on Virginia Tech’s Blacksburg campus in the North Academic District in between Cowgill Hall and Hahn Hall North. The facility contains offices, classrooms, and laboratory space for many of the science programs at Virginia Tech, such as biological sciences and geoscience. The Museum of Geosciences is also located in the building.

During construction, Derring Hall’s building envelope will be repaired in order to support the long term care of the building. These repairs are expected to extend the building’s life by 25 years.
