
As summer begins, there will be several traffic disruptions around the Blacksburg campus. Such work is needed to better maintain our roads and campus infrastructure.
Please use caution around construction zones, use alternate routes when possible, and give yourself a little more time on your trip.

Specific projects are highlighted below. Note that all dates shown are subject to change.
- Southgate Dr. and US 460 Interchange
May 2 to August 14
Continued construction will impact all lanes. Traffic will be maintained by flagging operations. Expect delays. In addition to the ongoing construction, landscaping work continues in the area.
- Old Turner St. (from Turner St. to Stanger St.)
May 1 to August 30
Construction staging will eliminate parking in this area. All lanes affected.
- Smithfield Rd. (from Duck Pond Dr.)
July 12 to August 10
Paving; traffic flow will be maintained with flagging operations. Expect delays.
- Oak Ln. (from Duck Pond Dr.)
July 12 to August 10
Paving; traffic flow will be maintained with flagging operations. Expect delays.
- Drillfield Dr. Exit to West Campus Dr.
May 15 to July 23
The western exit of Drillfield Dr. from the Drillfield oval to West Campus Drive will be closed. This is needed to allow for steam tunnel work. Seek alternate route.
Update: Due to unforeseen issues with this project, the anticipated date for re-opening is now August 14th.
