2018-2019 Interns

Mary Coughter is a Senior marjoing in Environmental Science and serves on the Waste Team. She is excited to share the message of sustainability to a wide range of students across campus. 

 

 

Reece Peters is a Junior majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Green Engineering. He is a member of the Waste Team and is excited about improving waste management at Virginia Tech. Reece is also an avid rock climber and spendds his summers above tree line in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Maia Dupes is a senior majoring in Civil Engineering and pursuing a minor in Green Engineering. She is the Water Team leader and is looking forward to learning more about the campus's utilities and storm water management system this year. 

 

 

 

 

Nathalie Unico is a Senior studying Chemical Engineering with minors in Green Engineering and Chemistry. As a member of the Water Team, she is excited to learn more about water sustainability, work with passionate people, and make a different in the Blacksburg community. She is also involved in Engineers Without Borders and the Virginia Tech Drumline. 

Casey Brotman is a Senior majoring in Environmental Resource Management with minors in GIS and Forestry. She is excited to share her passion for the environment with the Virginia Tech community and help promote sustainable dining around campus. Casey enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, kayaking, and playing soccer. 

 

 

Allison Mitchell is a Junior majoring in Meterology and Geography with minors in GIS and Classical Studies. She is a member of the Water Team and is looking forward to promoting the protection of our water resources. Allison is also involved in her music-service sorority, Nu Kappa Epsilon and the Hokie Storm Chasers. 

Nicole Luxford is a Junior majoring in Environmental Resource Management with a minor in Environmental Policy and Planning. She serves as Communications Representative for the Water Team and is eager to help inspire her campus and community to live more sustainably. 

 

Sean Starkey is currently a Senior studying Environmental Poluicy and Planning with a minor in Economics. He has also studed the challenges and solution of sustainability in Europe. As the Waste Team Leader, Sean looks forward to encouraging Virginia Tech students to lead the nation in sustainability. 

 

Emma Corbitt is a Senior majoring in Environmental Science with a minor in Green Engineering. She is the President of the Environmental Student Organization and a member of the Virginia Tech Sailing Team. As an intern for the Water Team, Emma hopes to inspire fellow hokies to be conscientious about their water use and reduce Virginia Tech's impact on surrounding water bodies. 

 

 

Emily Vollmer is a Junior majoring in Environmental Resource Management with minors in Sustainable Natural Environments, Forestry, and GIS. This is her second year as an intern on the Energy Team. Emily wants to encourage students to be more aware of their energy use and the ways they can save energy on and off campus.  

Sam Alford is a Senior studying Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Green Engineering. He is originally from Dallas, Texas. Sam hopes to use his degree to work in the renewable energy field. He is also looking forward to making a difference in the community by educating people about sustainability and introducing new sustainable practices on campus.

Erica Schermerhorn is a Junior majoring in Environmental Informatics with a minor in Computer Science. She is excited to be a member of the Energy Team and looks forward to being able to help students put their energy-saving ideas into action! After an enlightening trip to Ecuador, she is more than ready to bring climate awareness to the Blacksburg community.

Collin Donner is a Senior majoring in Industrial Systems Engineering with a minor in Green Engineering. As he plans on pursuing a career in the energy industry, he is very excited to learn as much as he can in the field. Collin's interests include music, sports and the outdoors. 

 

Hyejin Park is a Junior majoring in Environmental Science with a minor in Environmental Policy and Planning. She is a member of the Food Team and is excited to promote sustainability throughout Virginia Tech's campus and the Balcksburg community. She is also a member of the Environmental Student Organization and Cornerstone Christian Fellowship.
